随着暑期的临近，奇砾SAT课程的预定也开始火热起来。

这里先剧透一下由美国莱斯大学终身教授Richard亲授的“SAT修炼之文学历史课”简介：

Understanding Literature, Understanding American History：

This preparatory course will be taught like an undergraduate course at an elite American university. Classes will combine lecture, discussion, and practical application, all focused on understanding the subjects of American/English literature and U.S.history in the context of the SAT.

Note: All classes will include examples from SAT practice tests.

Class 1

Understanding Literature I: Terms and Concepts

In this first class, we will lay the groundwork for classes 2, 3, and 4 by introducing terms and concepts essential to understanding and discussing literature, and we will begin a survey of the history of American and English literature.

Class 2

Understanding Literature II: Theory and Method

Here we will review the history of literary theory and the critical methodologies applied to the study of literature, from the 19th century to today. We will also continue our historical overview of American and English literature.

Class 3

Understanding Literature III: Literary Prose

Here we will focus on features peculiar to literary prose (novels, short stories, dramas) and will analyze different prose texts. We will also continue our overview of American and English literature.

Class 4

Understanding Literature IV: Poetry

Here we will focus on features peculiar to poetry and will analyze different poems. We will also complete our overview of American and English literature.

Class 5

Understanding American History I: Groundwork and Early Years (through 1890)

In this class, we will lay the groundwork for classes 6, 7, and 8 by introducing terms and concepts essential to understanding and discussing (American) history. We will look at the history of America from the early years through the Civil War and the following Gilded Age.

Class 6

Understanding American History II: 1890-1945

We will focus on the period ranging from the Progressive Era (1890) through World War II (1945).

Class 7     

Understanding American History III: 1945-1968

Here we will focus on the years following WWII (the Cold War, the New Frontier and Great Society, the Civil Rights Movement).

Class 8

Understanding American History IV: 1968-the present

In our final class, we will look at the history of theUnited Statesfrom the Vietnam War until the present day (Era of Social Change, the New Millennium).
